Kyocera starts series production of TL series with 5.7 inch TFT LCD

The Japanese technology corporation Kyocera has started the series production of its new "TL series": 5.7 inch TFT LC displays with QVGA (320 x 240) and VGA (640 x 480) resolution. Both thin, light and with narrow dead space. A touch panel is available for both versions. Due to identical dimensions the TL series Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD) are mechanically compatible, regardless of their resolution. Both use light-emitting diodes (LED) as backlighting.

Designed in standard 2 DIN* size the new Kyocera TFT LCDs comply with the requirements of industrial application. TL series thus offers products suitable for hand-held applications in the industrial market such as i.e. manufacturing or measuring or medical equipment.

Kyocera, being evaluated for high quality and stable supply, intends to expand the TL series to meet the market needs.

As environmental sustainability is a crucial factor for Kyocera, activities by the Group include the active development of environmentally friendly products and the reduction of environmental effects. As a consequence, Kyocera offers a broad range of mercury-less LED backlights and lead-free PCBs according to the RoHS Directive. Compliant components are also used for TL series.

* DIN standard stands for Deutsches Institut für Normung. 1DIN is 144mm× 72mm and 2DIN is 44mm×144mm.

Electronic Assembly introduces a new COG 128x64 display to their DOGM-series

The EA DOGM128, a 128x64-pixel graphics display, is a new addition to ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLY’s EA DOGM series.
It also has pins that allow it to be mounted quickly and easily.
7 different optional LED backlights are available. These can be combined with 5 different display technologies,
making it possible to have up to around 20 different designs.
Designed for compact, handheld devices, this modern LCD series offers a number of genuine benefits with and without backlighting:

* Extremely compact (55x46 mm) with a large viewing area of 51x31 mm
* Super-flat: 2.0 mm without a LED backlight, 5.8 mm with one
* Serial SPI interface (4-wire)
* Single supply +3.0 V or +3.3 V
* Typical power consumption of only 150μA in full operation (white LED backlight from 5mA)
* Easily mounted by soldering
* Wide range of design variants can be ordered as single units
* Possibility to change color of the backlight

Use of LEDs (light emitting diodes) in LCD backlights is rapidly growing from smaller LCD panels to applications across the entire spectrum of LCD sizes. Powertip Technology launches a 4,3" WQVGA TFT

The new 4,3" TFT from Powertip comes with a 480x272 resolution, wide viewing angles, digital interface and a 280 nits LED backlight.
It has a very slim and compact design which make it suitable in a wide variety of applications. Touch panel version is also available and at the end of 2007 an  automotive version  with  an extended temperature range from -30 to + 85C will be available. 

Other popular TFT displays from Powertip are the 3,5" QVGA,
5,7" QVGA and 7" WVGA.
